Record breaking Force wins in style
Brutal Force, who set a new record for a horse sold at auction in South Africa, broke his maiden in convincing fashion at Kenilworth on Saturday.
The handsome colt, second on his two previous outings, made no mistakes under Anton Marcus, with the pair drawing off to a comfortable two and a quarter length victory. Brutal Force, who is trained by Joey Ramsden, is likely to make his next appearance in the R2 million Lanzerac Ready To Run Stakes at Kenilworth on 22nd November.
Owned by Markus and Ingrid Jooste, Brutal Force made headlines when knocked down for R4.5 million at the 2013 Cape Ready To Run Sale, setting a new South African record in the process.
Bred by Sally Jourdan, Brutal Force is a son of the now deceased Western Winter, an exceptional stallion who topped the South African sires standings on three occasions.
His dam, Nacarat, is an equally exceptional broodmare, whose other progeny include Brutal Force’s Grade 1 siblings Nania and Red Ray. The latter, who was placed in four Grade 1 races, will be campaigning in Britain later this year.
Red Ray and Brutal Force’s full sister Nania was a top class filly, whose victories included a score in the 2007 Grade 1 Thekwini Stakes.
Nacarat (a daughter of former Horse Of The Year Pas De Quoi), who is the dam of five stakes horses to date, is currently in foal to champion sprinter What A Winter (by Western Winter).
