Second winner for Argonaut

Second winner for Argonaut
Cheveley Stud’s resident sire Argonaut was represented by his second winner when Fantasy Hostess, bred by the Cheveley Stud, bolted up to break her maiden by over five lengths on Monday.

Argonaut’s other winner came in the form of the promising Copybook, who is a runner in the Gr1 Golden Horseshoe on Vodacom Durban July day.

A brilliant juvenile, Argonaut won three of four starts at two. He scored facile wins in both the Gr1 Golden Horseshoe (by 2.5 lengths) and Gr1 Premier’s Champion Stakes (by 5 lengths), which ensured him an Equus award as the top 2yo colt of the season.
Argonaut’s sole defeat came when narrowly beaten by the now Klawervlei based Seventh Rock in the Gr1 Gold Medallion over 1200 metres.

One of 20 Gr1 winners sired by the great Western Winter, Argonaut, who never raced after his 2yo campaign, is one of five stakes winners from the outstanding broodmare Aquasarto.

He is well represented on the KZN Yearling Sale, where his yearlings include a colt out of the Gr1 winner Readallaboutit, a half-brother to top sprinter Splash Gold and a half-brother to this season’s smart stakes winning filly, Scented Ash.
