Silvano joins the greats!
Maine Chance Farms’ outstanding sire Silvano joined an elite group of great stallions when Heavy Metal gave South Africa’s current ruling sire his second Vodacom Durban July winner. Remarkably, six of the 20 runners in the July were sired by Silvano, including the third place finisher, Do You Remember.
Silvano’s Bold Silvano won South Africa’s most famous race back in 2010.
Prior to Silvano, the most recent sire represented by two July winners was Jet Master (Pomodoro, Pocket Power).
Other notable sires to have had a July “double” include Fort Wood (Dynasty, Hunting Tower), Dancing Champ (Dancing Duel, Space Walk), Royal Prerogative (Royal Chalice, Right Prerogative), Jamaico (Jamaican Music, Jamaican Rumba, Gondolier), Beau Charles (Beau Art, Big Charles), New South Wales (In Full Flight, Over The Air), Sadri II (Gay Jane, C’est Si Bon), Montrose (Milesia Pride, Monasterevan, Monteith), Pearl Diver (Peerless and Verdant Green), and Greatorex (Nobleman, Collet).
Well on track to record his first ever general sires title, Silvano has enjoyed a season second to none, in local memory, with his runners including a staggering five individual Gr1 winners.
