Smart juvenile winner for Judpot

Smart juvenile winner for Judpot
Varsfontein Stud’s resident sire Judpot was represented by an eye catching juvenile winner at Scottsville on Wednesday afternoon.
The Varsfontein Stud bred, Just Lucky, was backed down to start a hot favourite at 6-10 for a maiden juvenile plate over 1200m, and she duly trotted up on debut. Despite running green in the running, Just Lucky pulled well clear of her field to register a facile, six length win.

Owned by Mr Pravin Chetty, Just Lucky looks a filly well above average, and is yet another great advert for her sire Judpot (A P Indy – Miesque) – South Africa’s Equus Outstanding Stallion of last season.

Out of the Model Man mare Ticketyboo, Just Lucky was a R240 000 buy at the 2013 Emperors Palace National Yearling Sale.

Her sire Judpot, a half-brother to world leading sire Kingmambo, made a stunning start with his first crop last season. His initial crop of runners included the Gr1 winners Forest Indigo and Along Came Polly (Equus Champion 2YO Filly) – runners in the Gr2 Betting World Gauteng Guineas and Gr2 Wilgerbosdrift Gauteng Fillies Guineas respectively on Saturday.

Judpot is well represented in the Gauteng Guineas – with his unbeaten son, Mister Cricket, another top contender for the first leg of the SASCOC Triple Crown.

The stallion’s second crop has produced just six runners to date – but five have either won or finished in the money.

The son of A P Indy is well represented at both the March Yearling Sale and Emperors Palace National Sale.

Judpot’s five yearlings on offer at the March Sale, include a colt closely related to champion Along Came Polly, as well as a colt from the great Miss Lindeman family.

His 24 strong National Sales draft includes a filly out of good racemare Sunsational, as well as a half-brother to Gr3 winner True Master.
