Stunning first foal for Oratorio

Stunning first foal for Oratorio
The widely anticipated first South African foal sired by Avontuur’s exciting young sire Oratorio has arrived.

Avontuur’s Pippa Mickleburgh was delighted by the foal, describing her her as a “strong, high-quality filly.”

This beautifully bred filly is out of the very talented Silvano mare Mochachino, whose seven victories included the Gr2 Camellia Stakes. Mochachino has made an exceptional start to her stud career – with her first runner being the impressive looking Var filly Varachino, winner of both of starts to date and an exciting prospect for the 2014-2015 season.

An outstanding racehorse, Oratorio was a European Champion at both two and three. The son of Danehill’s big race victories included the Group 1 Irish Champion Stakes, Group 1 Eclipse Stakes and Group 1 Prix Jean-Luc Lagardere.

From a superb family (his relatives include champion sires Alydar and Plum Bold), Oratorio has more than lived up to his pedigree and race record at stud.

Twice champion sire in Italy, Oratorio’s numerous stakes winners include Horse of the Year Military Attack and fellow Gr1 winners Banchee, Beethoven, Manawanui, and Temida.

Oratorio, who stands for a fee of R100 000, is fully booked once again for the 2014 breeding season.
From an outstanding first local book of mares, Oratorio is expected to have over 100 foals on the ground this season  -and, judging by this filly, he can hardly have made a brighter start to his South African stud career!
