Talented Aussie runner for SA bred mare
Classy South African racemare Dash For Gretna has been in the news lately thanks in part to the deeds of her talented daughter Nisroc. The latter made it four wins from just eight outings when saluting at Warwick Farm on Friday for trainer Ron Quinton.
By the tragically ill-fated sire Northern Meteor (by Encosta De Lago), Nisroc has now won or placed in seven of her eight starts to date, and looks more than capable of adding more black type to her prolific female line.
Bred by Varsfontein, Dash For Gretna won four races and over R500 000 in stakes, during a career which saw her triumph in both the Gr2 SA Fillies Nursery and Gr3 Acacia Handicap.
She is by the hugely successful broodmare sire Sportsworld, also the broodmare sire of last season’s Equus Champion Stayer Hot Ticket and Gr1 J&B Met winner Hill Fifty Four. Dash For Gretna’s dam Love On The Run (Elliodor – Let Kiss) was an unraced own sister to four stakes horses, including Bloodline Million winner and sire Leopard Strike.
This is the same family as former Equus Champion 2YO Colt Kochka, as well as globetrotting superstar, and promising young Klawervlei sire, Jay Peg, to name but a few.
Dash For Gretna was back in the news this week, having previously made headlines last week, when her bay son was knocked down for NZ $260 000 at the recent NZB Ready To Run Sale.
The colt, sired by Golden Slipper winner Stratum, was the ninth top lot sold at the Ready To Sale, where he was snapped up by Hong Kong interests.
