Trippi fillies shine
Drakenstein Stud’s world class stallion Trippi had another eye catching debut winner at Kenilworth.
Trippi, whose daughter, Lanner Falcon, ran second in the recent Gr1 Avontuur Estate Cape Fillies Guineas, is the sire of the blue blooded filly, Good Girl Flies.
The latter, whose dam, Bad Girl Runs, won both the Gr1 Cape Fillies Guineas and Gr1 Paddock Stakes, ran on strongly to make a winning debut over 1200m.
Good Girl Runs could not have been more impressive, drawing clearly nicely in the final stages to register a 1.25 length debut win.
Trippi’s progeny have been enjoying a great trot at the moment. Remarkably, Lanner Falcon’s runner up in the Fillies Guineas is the second year in a row that a Trippi has finished an unlucky second in the Cape’s premier event for 3yo fillies (Hammie’s Hooker was second last year).
Good Girl Runs and Lanner Falcon hail from a crop which has also produced the Gr1 winner and Equus nominee For The Lads (Gr1 Golden Slipper), as well as the likes of the now Dubai based Journeyman, and impressive debut winner Trip Tease.
Trippi’s first South African crop caused a sensation – producing no fewer than eight stakes horses. This crop included the brilliant filly Hammie’s Hooker, as well as Gr1 SA Nursery runner up (to Soft Falling Rain) Ziparana, Gr3 winner Franny and the talented performer Paterfamilias (winner of his last two in a row). The accomplishments of his first crop ensured that Trippi was South Africa’s leading first crop sire of his generation.
The sire of 40 stakes winners (and counting), Trippi is well represented on the 2014 Cape Premier Yearling Sale (Book 1). His 16 draft includes yearlings out of the Grade One winning mares Geepee S, Shadow Dancing, Sparkling Gem and Captain’s Gal. Trippi also has half brothers to the star pair of The Hangman and Jackson on offer at the sale.
With such well bred individuals still in the wings, Trippi’s success looks set to continue to soar!
