Trippi – top class sire of stakes winners, and an exciting broodmare sire!
Drakenstein Stud’s resident stallion Trippi enjoyed great this success this past weekend – both as a sire and as a broodmare sire.

Trippi, whose offspring have been enjoying a tremendous run of form over the past few weeks, took his lifetime tally of stakes winners to 46 when his daughter Ha Lucy won Saturday’s Listed Gardenia Handicap at Turffontein.

The lightly raced Ha Lucy was winning for the third time in just five outings, with the Gardenia being the first stakes victory of her career.
Bred by Wilgerbosdrift, Ha Lucy was a R220 000 purchase at the 2013 Emperors Palace National Yearling Sale.

She is one of eight stakes winners to represent Trippi (whose daughters Hammie’s Hooker and Lanner Falcon ran third and fourth in Sunday’s Gr2 Cape Merchants) in 2014.

Trippi, whose offspring have earned over $49 million in stakes, was also in the headlines this past weekend as a broodmare sire.

The son of End Sweep is the maternal grandsire of one of North America’s most exciting 3yo’s- Liam’s Map. The latter (a colt by Unbridled’s Song), made it two wins from just three outings when he won an allowance race at Aqueduct by a stunning 11.5 lengths. Liam’s Map had previously broken his maiden by nine and a half lengths, and looks a colt of rare brilliance.

An $800 000 yearling buy, Liam’s Map is out of Trippi’s brilliant daughter Miss Macy Sue – whose 11 wins netted her connections over $800 000 in prize money. A top class racemare, Miss Macy Sue’s wins included the Gr3 Winning Colors Stakes and she also ran third in the Breeders Cup F& M Sprint.

The sire of such outstanding sophomores this year such as Afrikaburn (G1 Golden Horseshoe) and One Fine Day , Trippi stood for a 2014 stud fee of R120 000.
