Two out of two for promising Twice Over son

Do It Again, a son of European champion and promising Klawervlei sire Twice Over, made it two wins from as many outings when winning easily at Kenilworth on Saturday afternoon.

Bred by the Northfields Stud, the Justin Snaith trained gelding had defeated subsequent winner Hemingway when scoring impressively over 1200m first time out and doubled up when successful over a mile on the weekend.

The gelding is owned by Nic Jonsson, Bernard Kantor and Jack Mitchell, and Do It Again, who was conceding weight to all but one of his older rivals in Saturday’s contest, looks a really exciting future, and potential feature race, prospect.

Do It Again, himself a R1.1 million buy from the 2016 National Yearling Sale, hails from Twice Over’s first crop, which are now three.

This crop also includes the Cape champion and unbeaten G1 Tsogo Sun Gold Medallion winner Sand And Sea, himself an Equus nominee last season for the title of Champion 2YO Colt.

Fully booked for the 2017 breeding season, Twice Over was an exceptional racehorse whose 12 career victories included nine pattern races, with his tally of feature race wins including four at the highest level.

His victories included both the G1 Champion Stakes (twice) and G1 Juddmonte International –races won subsequently by unbeaten sire sensation Frankel, with Twice Over also landing the storied Coral-Eclipse during his remarkable career.

The champion won or placed in 12 G1 races, with Twice Over’s other notable efforts including a third to legendary champion Zenyatta in the 2009 Breeders’ Cup Classic.
