Maine Chance Farms’ star stallion Vercingetorix, set to be crowned South Africa’s Champion Sire for 2024-2025, had another good day on Saturday.
The champion son of Silvano had a pair of winners at Hollywoodbets Greyville on Saturday, where Vercingetorix gelding Position Of Power made a winning debut.

Trained by Alyson Wright, gelded three-year-old Position Of Power made the perfect start to his racing career when he won the WSB Welcomes You Maiden Plate (1000m).
Under Anthandiwe Mgudlwa, Position Of Power ran on strongly to best his more experienced rivals by a long neck.

Bred by James Armitage, Position Of Power is out of the Horse Chestnut mare Awe Inspiring.
He was a R130 000 buy from the 2023 November Two Year Old Sale.

Vercingetorix is also the sire of  Ubukhwebezana, who won the ninth and final race on Saturday
The .MJ Odendaal trained four-year-old made it win number three when she won the WSB Fly With The Best Class 4 (F and M) (1400m) under Sean Veale.
Bred by Maine Chance Farms, Ubukhwebezana is out of the Noordhoek Flyer mare Felicity Flyer.

Her outstanding sire has had a magnificent season in 2024-2025, with Vercingetorix having been responsible for 20 black type winners this season, and his progeny have earned more than R27.219 million in stakes.
