Fourth first crop winner for Ato
16th May 2018
Millstream Farm’s G1 winning young stallion Ato was represented by a fourth first crop winner when his son Charlie-Fox got off the mark in open company at Greyville on Sunday.
The Michael Roberts trained two-year-old dug down deep to hold off older, more experienced rival Pantsula and score a short-head win over 1000m.
Charlie-Fox, who was produced by the Australian bred Right Wing mare Marquise, has now won or placed in four of his five outings, having finished third at his previous outing.
The colt is the fourth winner for his first-crop sire Ato, whose Alpha To Omega had shed his maiden impressively just days earlier.
Winner of the 2012 G1 Krisflyer International Sprint, Ato has made a very bright start with his early runners this season.
To date, the son of Royal Academy has been represented by nine runners, with six of these having won or finished in the money.
Ato, who was bred by Maine Chance Farms, was produced by the high-class Lyphard’s Wish mare Another Legend.
The latter won six races including the G2 All Along Stakes and won or placed in a total of seven stakes races.
