Ascot Stud’s home bred July winning sire Bold Silvano has enjoyed a memorable season in 2017-2018 thus far, and the champion son of Silvano’s good form continued this weekend.

The 2010 Vodacom Durban July winner had a double, with a two-year-old by Bold Silvano scoring a smart win in open company.
Bold Silvano’s first winner of the weekend came when his 3yo daughter Pepper Dust shed her maiden over 1000m at Fairview on Saturday. Bred by Maine Chance Farms, the Gavin Smith trained filly romped home to score an emphatic one and three quarter length win.
The son of Silvano was also represented by his fifth juvenile winner this season, when Bold Silvano 2yo colt Lady’s Knight downed older rivals to break his maiden over 1600m at Turffontein on Saturday. Trained, like his sire, by Mike de Kock, the Gary Player Stud bred Lady’s Knight is out of the Jallad mare Niteinblacksilk.
Another 2yo by Bold Silvano, March Music, caught the eye when second, on debut, over 1000m on Saturday.
Bold Silvano has been in the news consistently this season, with his stars including Listed In Full Flight Handicap winner Bold Respect and top-class two-year-old Bold Eagle.
The former has already banked more than R1.3 million in prize money and currently tops the boards for the G1 Tsogo Sun Sprint, while Bold Eagle, a winner of three of four outings, has won both the G3 Protea and Listed Storm Bird Stakes this season. Bred by the Riyo Stud, Bold Eagle has been nominated for the title of Highveld Feature Award of Champion Two-Year-Old Colt.
Himself a former Equus Champion, who won the Maktoum Challenge in Dubai, Bold Silvano will be represented by four yearlings at July’s KZN Yearling Sale.
