Top-class sprinter Secret of Victoria enjoyable a profitable weekend recently. The daughter of Goldkeeper, who was bred by the Cheveley Stud, was represented by two winners over the weekend.

Her champion daughter, All Is Secret, scored an upset victory in Saturday’s R750 000, Gr1 The Mercury Sprint. Last season’s Equus Champion 2yo filly downed both Welwitschia and champion What A Winter, who was making his swansong before retiring to Drakenstein Stud.

All Is Secret has now won three Gr1 races, and this daughter of Captain Al must rate an exceptionally valuable future broodmare prospect. Her six wins have netted the flashy grey over R1 000 000 in earnings, and a shot at an Equus Award next month.

All Is Secret’s half brother, Dynasty’s Secret, kept the family’s honour up, when the Dynasty gelding scored the second win of his career, when he was successful at Kenilworth over 1400m.

Secret of Victoria has got a 100% record with all three of her first foals having won. The mare, who like her famous daughter is a grey, is also dam of unbeaten Cape 2yo Secret Command.

Interestingly, her first three foals fetched an accumulative R2 320 000. Secret of Victoria, whose six career victories included both the Gr2 Sceptre Stakes and Gr3 Southern Cross when trained by Vaughan Marshall, has been Goldkeeper’s most successful broodmare daughter in South Africa to date.
