World relatives take high rank on sires lists
Mauritzfontein Stud’s exciting new sire Ideal World, whose yearlings were so sought after at the recent Suncoast KZN Yearling Sale, has a pedigree which continues to go from strength to strength.

His sire Kingmambo, whose offspring include no fewer than 27 Gr1 winners, has sire sons ranked highly in Japan, North America, South Africa and New Zealand.

Former Travers Stakes runner up Mambo In Seattle (Kingmambo) produced the brilliant KZN Yearling Sale Million winner and Gr1 contender Same Jurisdiction in his first South African crop, while another son of Kingmambo, Thewayyouare, heads the New Zealand first crop sires list.

Former Group 1 winning juvenile Thewayyouare, whose first crop of 3yos include impressive Gr2 UAE Derby winner Toast Of New York, not only heads the New Zealand first crop log, but is also North America’s second leading second crop sire, by prize money.

In North America, Kingmambo’s champion son Lemon Drop Kid ranks ninth on the general sires list and has been represented by nine stakes winners during the year. Lemon Drop Kid sired stakes winners this year include the impressive Royal Ascot winner Cannock Chase, Gr3 Dwyer Stakes hero Kid Cruz and recent Gr2 Bowling Green Handicap victor Hangover Kid.

Another Kingmambo son, King Kamehameha, is currently second on Japan’s general sires log – having headed the sires list in 2010 and 2011.

Ideal World’s champion dam Banks Hill (Danehill – Hasili) is a full-sister to world leading sire Dansili.
The latter, who has been represented by 11 stakes winners during 2014 so far, is currently the fifth leading sire (by prize money) in the UK.
Dansili’ stakes winners for 2014 include the Group 1 winners Miss France (1000 Guineas), We Are (Prix Saint Alary) and the recently retired The Fugue.

The latter picked up the fourth Group 1 success of her career when winning Royal Ascot’s Group1 Prince Of Wales Stakes, but injury forced The Fugue into retirement.

Other stakes winners for the brilliant Dansili (Champion Sire in France in 2006) this season include Gr2 Betting World 1900 winner Espumanti, herself also now retired.

Dansili’s full brother Champs Elysees, whose first crop are now three, has made an encouraging start to his stud career. A former Canadian Horse Of The Year, Champs Elysees’ first runners include five stakes winners to date – include the top-class filly Xcellence, who has been placed in both the Group 1 French 1000 Guineas and Group 1 French Oaks.

Cacique, a full-brother to Champs Elysees, Banks Hill and Dansili, has, from limited representation, already been represented by two major Group 1 winners in Mutual Trust (Prix Jean Prat) and Dominant (Hong Kong Vase). Cacique has exceptional statistics – his 5 stakes winners represent a stunning 22% of his entire foal crop. One can only imagine what kind of stallion Cacique would be had he greater numbers to support him.

Ideal World’s broodmare sire, legendary stallion Danehill, is also a superb broodmare sire. Not only is the son of Danzig broodmare sire of the incomparable champion Frankel, but he is also damsire of Siyouni – currently the leading first crop sire in France and- as well as the highly successful sire Teofilo, sire of the 2014 Investec Oaks runner up Tarfasha, and six Group/Grade One winners to date.

The stakes winning Ideal World will stand for a fee of R30 000 in 2014.
