Highlands Stud’s outstanding sire Dynasty has no shortage of top-class three-year-olds batting for him this season and the former Horse Of The Year was represented by yet another impressive debut winner at Scottsville on Sunday.
This time it was the Varsfontein Stud bred Hashtagyolo who impressed, with the 3yo filly bolting home to score a first-up four length win for trainer Dean Kannemeyer and last season’s champion jockey, Anthony Delpech.
Hashtagyolo, a R1.1 million buy from the 2016 National Sale, is out of the winning Jallad mare My Guiding Star and is thus bred on the same Dynasty/Jallad cross as G1 winners It’s My Turn and last season’s Premiers Champion Stakes winner Eyes Wide Open.
Hashtagyolo and Eyes Wide Open apart, notable 3yos representing Dynasty in 2017-2018 include Equus Champion and unbeaten G1 winner Lady In Black, as well as the exciting debut winners Noble Secret, Greek Fire, and Ontenderhooks.
Another smart 3yo representing Dynasty this season is Brighteyebushytail, a winner of two of his three outings to date.
Dynasty was also responsible for Saturday’s Listed Settlers Trophy runner up Our Emperor, who looks sure to play a part in some of the better staying contests in the upcoming Cape Summer Season.
The former July winning champion, whose triple G1 winning son Jackson has his first runners this season, has four runners nominated to the G1 Summer Cup –Kilrain, Let It Rain, Liege and Wild Wicket.
