Gottalottaluv, a Var half-sister to Drakenstein Stud’s well performed young stallion Gold Standard, picked up the second win of her career when victorious at Turffontein on Saturday. Bred by Carl and Amanda de Vos, the Stuart Pettigrew filly romped home to post a three length win, under jockey Diego De Gouveia, in an assessment plate over 2000m.

The consistent filly, who had previously contested all of the G2 Wilgerbosdrift SA Oaks, G3 Yellowwood Handicap and Listed Oaks Trial, has now won or placed in ten of 14 starts.

Gottalottaluv is one of five winners produced by the Model Man mare Olympic Dam, whose most notable offspring is the top class Gold Standard. Olympic Dam, in turn, is a daughter of multiple champion and former Met winner Olympic Duel –also dam of G1 Daily News 2000 hero Flying Duel.

Gold Standard, who stood his first season at Drakenstein in 2018,  earned nearly R1 000 000 in stakes on the track, with Gold Standard’s victories including a defeat of the brilliant William Longsword and Equus Champion Edict Of Nantes in the 2016 G2 Selangor Cup.

Also victorious in the Listed Racing Association Stakes, Gold Standard also ran second to William Longsword in the 2016 G1 Cape Guineas.

The handsome Gold Standard is a son of Trippi –South African Champion Sire of 2015-2016, and the sire of more than 140 stakes horses notably the G1 winners R Heat Lightning, Inara, Deo Juvente, Lobo’s Legend, Real Princess, Afrikaburn and For The Lads.
