Maine Chance Farms’ multiple champion sire Silvano’s progeny enjoyed a good day at Fairview on Friday –with his Equus Champion son Vercingetorix siring the first two home in Friday’s first race, and Silvano’s daughter Jaleika landing the Oaks Plate for trainer Alan Greeff and jockey Aldo Domeyer.

Bred and owned by Maine Chance Farms, the 3yo Jaleika simply outclassed her six rivals to land the 1800m Oaks Plate by a widening 3.75 lengths.
Now a dual winner, Jaleika is out of the Jallad mare Jabulani Jive, and is as such bred on the same Silvano/Jallad cross as G1 J&B Met winner Martial Eagle and G3 Algoa Cup winners Nebula and Forest Of Dean.

Her multiple champion sire Silvano is enjoying another fine season in 2018-2019 with his top performers headed by G1 SA Classic winner Hawwaam (a leading hope for the upcoming G1 SA Derby), promising G1 filly Blossom,  Cape Fillies Guineas runner up Silvano’s Pride, G3 Yellowwood Handicap winner Sylvan On Fire and Michael Roberts Handicap winner Wealthy.

Silvano, the sire of more than 20 G1 winners including four Vodacom Durban July winners, has 21 yearlings on offer at the 2019 Emperors Palace National Yearling Sale including a colt (Lot 9) out of the Oasis Dream sired millionaire Welwitschia, a half-sister (Lot 29) to G1 SA Nursery hero Arabian Beat, a filly (Lot 89) out of the Rock Of Gibraltar sired Fillies Guineas winner Gibraltar Blue, and a filly (Lot 178) out of the multiple G1 winning champion Princess Victoria.
