Eclipse Stakes win for Jackson relative

5th July 2020

The Ridgemont Highlands based Jackson gained an umpteenth boost to his stellar pedigree page, when close relative Skywire won the G2 Eclipse Stakes at Woodbine on Saturday.

A beaten favorite in last year’s Queen’s Plate Stakes at Woodbine, Skywire regained some lost form in his third outing as a 4-year-old with a 17-1 win in Saturday’s feature at the Toronto oval.
The Mark Casse-trained gelding earned top rider Rafael Hernandez his fourth win on the afternoon, with Hernandez also notching a win aboard Halo Again in the Queenston Stakes.

Skywire proved far too strong for his rivals in the 2020 Eclipse Stakes, and drew off to score a one and a quarter length win.

A four-year-old gelded son of Afleet Alex, Skywire, also victorious in the 2019 Wando Stakes, has now won four of ten stakes, with his latest win taking his earnings to $249 827.

Out of the unraced Gone West mare Meandering Stream, a three-parts sister to the granddam of Jackson, Skywire’s third dam is legendary matriarch No Class, who also ranks as the fourth dam of triple G1 winner Jackson.

The latter, sire of this season’s high-class 3yos Count Jack, Pretty Young Thing and Pure State, has a single yearling on offer at this year’s Emperors Palace National Yearling Sale.
