Klawervlei Stud’s exciting young stallion William Longsword came up with his first stakes winner when his impressive two-year-old son Dyce ran out a brilliant winner of the G2 Epol Umkhomazi Stakes (1200m) run at Hollywoodbets Greyville on Saturday.

The Lucky Houdalakis trained colt had finished over 1000m last time out but built on that effort with an explosive win on Saturday.

Under Craig Zackey, the Titanium Racing bred Dyce simply blew his rivals away as he raced away to score by more than four and a quarter lengths.

One of two runners in the Umkhomazi Stakes for his sire, Dyce has now won twice from just five starts, and looks a hugely exciting prospect for his sire!

Winner of the 2016 G1 Cape Guineas, the Klawervlei Stud bred William Longsword has made a very promising start to his stud career, and his first-crop daughter Remember When went close to giving him another graded stakes winner when she ran second in Saturday’s G2 Prosport International Debutante presented by Gagasi FM.

One of more than 100 stakes winners by Klawervlei’s late, great sire Captain Al, William Longsword has now been responsible for seven first crop winners.
