Blue blooded Galileo mare Cantabella, who hails from the same female line as Maine Chance Farms’ exciting young stallion Erupt, enjoyed a double on Saturday.

Cantabella’s son Captain Chorus captured the eighth race at Turffontein on Saturday, while Captain Chorus’ half-sister Symphony Of Light won the eighth and final race at Durbanville on the same card.

Both Captain Chorus and Symphony Of Light were bred by the Lammerskraal Stud.

Trained by Lucky Houdalakis, Captain Chorus (by Captain Al) picked up his fifth career win when he powered home, under Warren Kennedy, to claim Saturday’s Racing Association Pinnacle Stakes by three-parts of a length.

His three-year-old half-sister Symphony Of Light (by Trippi) got off the mark when she won the Next Meeting 25 Sept-Durbanville Maiden Plate (F&M) (1400m) on Saturday.
The Candice Bass-Robinson trained filly drew off in style to break her maiden by two and a quarter lengths, while winning at the third time of asking.

The pair are out of the blue blooded Galileo mare Cantabella -a full-sister to G3 Munster Oaks winner Pretty Perfect.

Cantabella’s third dam is Canadian champion and outstanding producer Fanfreluche -also the fourth dam of G1 Juddmonte Grand Prix de Paris/G1 Pattison Canadian International winner Erupt.
The latter’s sire Dubawi was also in the news this weekend, with Dubawi’s son Yibir capturing Saturday’s $980 000 Jockey Club Derby Invitational Stakes.

Dubawi came up another big win when his two-year-old son Albahr captured Sunday’s G1 Summer Stakes at Woodbine.
