Reigning champion sire Gimmethegreenlight had another memorable day at Turffontein on Thursday when the son of More Than Ready supplied three of the first four winners on the card.

The Gimmethegreenlight sired, and Johan Janse Van Vuuren trained, pair of Permesso Avanti and Outofthedarkness both caught the eye when making winning debuts in their respective races.

Under Raymond Danielson, three-year-old Permesso Avanti stamped herself as a filly with a bright future when she powered home to win Thursday’s Welcome To Turffontein Maiden Plate (3-year-old fillies) (1000m) by nearly four lengths.
Bred by Varsfontein Stud, Permesso Avanti is out of the Caesour mare Dolomiti, and she was a R200 000 buy from the 2020 National Yearling Sale.

With Permesso Avanti winning the first race, her sire had a quick double when Gimmethegreenlight’s three-year-old son Outofthedarkness made a winning debut to land Thursday’s second race.
Also partnered by Raymond Danielson, the Wernars bred and owned gelding pulled clear in the closing stages to land the All To Come Maiden Plate (3-year-olds) (1000m) by just over a length and a half.
Out of the Fort Wood mare Negroamaro, Outofthedarkness is bred on the same Gimmethegreenlight/Fort Wood cross as the graded stakes winners Gee For Go, Green Pepper, Hack Green and Second Base.

Gimmethegreenlight’s third success on Thursday came when his gelded son About To Storm justified favouritism when running out a facile winner of the fourth race -the Play Soccer 6, 10 and 13 Maiden Plate (1200m). Under Gavin Lerena, the Johan Janse Van Vuuren trained three-year-old won hard held by a length and a half.

Bred by Ridgemont Highlands, About To Storm is out of the Fort Wood daughter Scarlet Sky.

The sire of more than 70 black type horses, and counting, Gimmethegreenlight has six lots on the 2021 CTS Ready To Run Sale.
