Maine Chance Farms’ prominent stallion Querari has made a fine start to the 2021-2022 season, and the Oasis Dream son’s great run of form continued on Saturday when Querari supplied four more winners.
Querari’s first success on Saturday came when his speedy son Ultra Quick captured the third race at Turffontein on Saturday.
Under Gavin Lerena, the Johan Janse Van Vuuren bred three-year-old was always up with the pace in Saturday’s TAB Telebet 0861 000 822 Graduation Plate (1200m), with Ultra Quick finding more in the closing stages to post a near one length score.
Now a winner of two of just five starts (he is yet to finish out of the top three), the gelded Ultra Quick was bred by Lammerskraal Stud.
Out of the Parade Leader mare Furina, Ultra Quick was a R200 000 buy from the 2020 National Yearling Sale.
Querari’s second success on Saturday came when his three-year-old daughter Fleeting claimed the third race at Durbanville, with that filly landing the Costa Coffee Maiden Plate (1600m) by a length.
In the process, Fleeting provided trainer Brett Crawford with his third straight win on the Durbanville card!
Bred by Maine Chance Farms, three-year-old Fleeting had been third in each of her only two previous starts.
Querari also went on to claim the last two races at Turffontein on Saturday, with his sons Quantum King and Life Goes On respectively.
The Klawervlei Stud bred Quantum King, a three-year-old half-brother to Kommetdieding, made it two wins from just four starts when he flew up late to land the Racing Association MR77 Handicap (1200m).
In the process, the Johan Janse Van Vuuren trained colt provided jockey Gavin Lerena with his 2000th win in the saddle. The Querari colt had previously contested the G1 Premiers Champion Stakes and Quantum King looks another promising sophomore for his sire.
Querari’s fourth and final South African success on Saturday came when his Clinton Binda trained son Life Goes On won Turffontein’s ninth and final race, the Next Turffontein Racemeeting Saturday 2 October MR 66 Handicap (1200m). It was a second win for that Maine Chance Farms bred gelding, who was ridden to victory by Joshwin Solomons.
