Monday double for Gimmethegreenlight

Varsfontein Stud’s champion resident sire Gimmethegreenlight continues to supply out winners at a rate of knots, and the G1 L’Ormarins Queen’s Plate winning son of legendary shuttle sire More Than Ready was responsible for two more eye catching winners at Kenilworth on Monday.

Gimmethegreenlight’s first success on Monday came when his Vaughan Marshall trained son Dubai Lights scored a courageous victory in the fifth race on the card, the Computaform Online MR 88 Handicap (1800m).

Bred by Lammerskraal Stud, Dubai Lights has now won three times, with the gelding having won from 1400- 2000 metres.

His paternal half-brother Irish Morning provided Gimmethegreenlight with a second success on the Kenilworth card when he ran out an impressive winner of the seventh race, the Goals And Gallops MR 96 Handicap (1200m), on the card.
Under Keagan De Melo, the Dean Kannemeyer trained Irish Morning made it five wins from just eight starts when holding off the promising Resonate to win by a neck.

Bred and owned by April Glaspie, five-year-old Irish Morning has now won four of his last five starts.
