Five winners in three days for Master Of My Fate

15th February 2022

Varsfontein Stud’s resident sire Master Of My Fate has enjoyed a good few days, with the son of Jet Master responsible for two winners at Kenilworth on Saturday, an eye catching debut winner at Hollywoodbets Scottsville the following day, and two more winners at Hollywoodbets Greyville on Monday.

Master Of My Fate

Master Of My Fate’s five winner streak kicked off when his sons Thunder Master and Policy Target won their respective races at Kenilworth on Saturday.

The former G2 Premier Trophy winner enjoyed more success on Sunday when Master Of My Fate’s two-year-old son Sundance Kid got up to make a winning debut when dead-heating for first place at Hollywoodbets Scottsville.
Bred by Wilgerbosdrift & Mauritzfontein, the Wendy Whitehead trained Sundance Kid unleashed a smart turn of foot which saw the Master Of My Fate colt get up close home in Sunday’s www.gallop.tv Maiden Juvenile Plate (1000m) and force a dead-heat.

Out of the Fort Wood mare Far Hills, Sundance Kid was a R250 000 buy from the 2021 National Yearling Sale.

His inform sire went on to supply two more winners at Greyville the following day -with Master Of My Fate gelding Mighty Mashona victorious in the third race at Greyville, and Master Of My Fate’s six-year-old son The Appeal winning the eighth and last race on Monday.
Under Donovan Dillon, the Peter Muscutt trained Mighty Mashona hit the front someway from home in the www.gallop.tv Maiden Plate (1600m) and stayed on gamely to score by half a length.
Bred by Varsfontein Stud, the three-year-old is out of the Strike Smartly mare Cascadia.

Mighty Mashona’s paternal half-brother The Appeal ended the day in style for Master Of My Fate, when that Alyson Wright trained gelding won the Hollywoodbets Bright Future MR 67 Handicap (2000m).
Under Warren Kennedy, The Appeal, who was bred by James Armitage, dug down deep to withstand the challenge from King’s Cove and win a shade cosily by a long neck.
