Maine Chance Farms’ sire sensation Vercingetorix came up with yet another good looking winner when his two-year-old son Michael Faraday made a winning debut at Kenilworth on Wednesday.
Under Greg Cheyne, the Candice Bass-Robinson trained colt came with a late run down the inside of the track to get up and win Wednesday’s Welcome To Cape Racing Maiden Juvenile Plate (1200m) by a short head.

Another son of Vercingetorix, Lang’s Power, made a pleasing debut in the same race when finishing fourth to his paternal half-brother Michael Faraday.

Bred by the Riethuiskraal Stud, Michael Faraday is out of the Daylami mare Puritani.

Wednesday’s winner was a R300 000 buy from the 2021 National Yearling Sale.

Michael Faraday is the fifth two-year-old winner for Vercingetorix this season, with the son of Silvano’s other juvenile winners in 2021-2022 including recent G3 Godolphin Barb Stakes runner up Gladiatorian.

Current well clear on South Africa’s General Sires List, Vercingetorix enjoyed a notable graded stakes double at Turffontein on Saturday where his sons Astrix and Nebraas won the G1 TAB The Premier’s Champions Challenge and G3 The Citizen Gold Bowl respectively.
