The Cheveley Stud bred and based champion Legislate enjoyed a big race pay-day at Hollywoodbets Greyville on Saturday when his exciting son Airways Law claimed the G3 Hollywoodbets Dolphin Cup Trial over 1800 metres.
Under Gareth Wright, the Andre Nel trained gelding came from a long way back to win the Cup Trial emphatically.
Airways Law dug down deep in the closing stages to claim the first black type win of his career by a neck.
It was a fine ride from Gareth Wright, who did well to get his mount to overcome his poor draw of 13 on Saturday.
Bred and owned by Sabine Plattner, Airways Law, a revelation since being gelded, has now won five of just eight starts.
Out of the Jet Master mare Beautiful Jet, Airways Law made it three wins in a row with his Cup Trial success.
The gelding is the fifth stakes winner to have emerged from Legislate’s first crop -which consists of just 23 registered foals. This crop also produced the graded stakes winners Hoedspruit and Zimbaba as well as former Listed Sophomore Sprint winner Speed Machine.
