Ridgemont’s G1 winning stallion Potala Palace came up with a smart-looking winner on Friday when his two-year-old son Family Law made a winning debut at Fairview.
The Gavin Smith-trained colt did well to win Friday’s Welcome To Nelson Mandela Bay Maiden Juvenile Plate (1000m) with Family Law slightly slow away.
However, jockey Yuzae Ramzan bought the promising two-year-old with a stout late run which saw Family Law get up and score by a head.
Bred by Wilgerbosdrift & Mauritzfontein, Family Law is out of the Jet Master mare Themis.
Family Law was a R160 000 buy from the 2023 Cape Yearling Sale.
His sire Potala Palace, himself a G1 winner at two, has had four two-year-old runners thus far this season, with three having either won or finished in the money.
