Ridgemont’s G1-winning resident stallion Potala Palace looks to have sired a very classy filly in the form of Red Palace.
On Sunday, the latter put her rivals to the sword when running out a brilliant winner of the Listed Stormsvlei Stakes (1800m) at Hollywoodbets Kenilworth.
Runner up in the G1 Hollywoodbets Cape Guineas earlier this season, the Candice Bass-Robinson trained Red Palace was given a fine, front-running ride by jockey Anthony Andrews in Sunday’s R200 000 Listed feature.
Andrews was quick to send his mount to the front, and Red Palace never looked in danger of defeat.
The three-year-old kicked again in the closing stages and drew off to win as she liked by two and a half lengths.
Bred by her part-owner Terry Andrews, Red Palace has now won three of 11 starts with the filly, who is out of the Jay Peg mare In Limine, having already banked more than R700 000 in prize money.
Her G1 Premier’s Champion Stakes winning sire Potala Palace has a single lot on offer at the 2024 Cape Racing Winter Yearling Sale, and four yearlings on offer at the KZN Yearling Sale.
