Fresh off having success at Glorious Goodwood, Paardeberg Stud’s G1 winning stallion Expert Eye struck again when his two-year-old son Nesthorn made a winning debut at Deauville on Saturday.
The Juddmonte-bred and owned Nesthorn stormed home to land Saturday’s Prix du Montaigu, over a mile, by three parts of a length. Trained by Francis-Henri Graffard, Nesthorn was ridden to victory by Maxime Guyon.
Nesthorn is out of the Zamindar mare Swiss Range.
His sire Expert Eye is also the sire of the smart Witness Stand, who won the Whispering Angel Handicap at the Goodwood meeting.
Another Expert Eye sired runner, 2023 Listed Chesham Stakes winner Snellen, recently caught the eye when winning a good race at Gowran Park. The classy Snellen has now won four of nine starts and holds entries in the Listed Darley Irish EBF Hurry Harriet Stakes and G3 Snow Fairy Fillies Stakes.
Expert Eye, a group winner at both two and three, scored the biggest win of his career when victorious in the 2018 G1 Breeders’ Cup Mile, where the son of Acclamation accounted for G1 winners Divisidero, One Master, Clemmmie, Lightning Spear, Happily, Almanaar, Next Shares and Oscar Performance.
