South Africa’s reigning champion sire Vercingetorix is enjoying another big season in 2025-2026.
The champion son of champion sire Silvano was at it again on Saturday when his daughter Princess Of Gaul won the G2 Western Cape Fillies Championship (1400m) at Hollywoodbets Kenilworth.
Another Vercingetorix filly, Quickstepgal, ran fourth in the Fillies Championship on Saturday.

Trained by Dean Kannemeyer, three-year-old Princess Of Gaul made it three wins from four starts with her win on Saturday.
Under Craig Zackey, the filly kicked on strongly to claim the second graded win of her career by a length and a half.

Unlucky on her previous outing when finishing eighth in the G3 Schweppes Diana Stakes, Princess Of Gaul had been unbeaten at two when her wins included a triumph in the G2 World Pool With Race Coast Debutante.

The filly, who is out of the Duke Of Marmalade mare Miss Marmalade, was a R600 000 buy from the 2024 National Yearling Sale.

Princess Of Gaul was one of two winners at Hollywoodbets Kenilworth on Saturday for Vercingetorix. The latter is also the sire of Navaseven, winner of Saturday’s Hollywoodbets Kenilworth Welcomes You Maiden Plate.

Vercingetorix, whose star son Gladatorian won at Hollywoodbets Greyville on Friday, is again heading the South African General Sires premiership with his runners having already banked more than R6.254 million this season.
