Drakenstein Stud’s inform resident sire What A Winter had a day to remember on Saturday.
Not only did his two-year-old daughter Get Up win the G2 Allan Robertson Championship (1200m) at Hollywoodbets Scottsville, but What A Winter’s six-year-old daughter Asiye Phambili won the G1 South African Fillies Sprint brought to you by The Witness (1200m) on the same card.

In the process, Asiye Phambili became the sixth G1 winner for her sire.

Trained by Duncan Howells, the six-year-old made amends for her defeat in the same race a year ago, where Asiye Phambili ran second, to Mia Moo, in the 2025 G1 South African Fillies Sprint.

Under Sean Veale, Asiye Phambili, a well-backed 2-1 shot, came with a late rattle to get up close home and defeat Equus Champion Double Grand Slam by a neck.

Bred by Hemel ‘N Aarde Stud, the six-year-old is owned by Hollywood Racing.

Asiye Phambili, who is out of the Rambo Dancer mare Cast A Spell, is a full-sister to G2 Western Cape Fillies Championship runner up Trickster.
She has won 11 of 32 starts, with Asiye Phambili having claimed no fewer than six graded stakes races!

She was the second graded stakes winner for her four time winning sire on Saturday, with What A Winter filly Get Up stamping her Equus Award claims with her triumph in the Allan Robertson Championship.
