Maine Chance Farms’ top-class stallion Querari has had a fantastic season in 2025-2026, and his fine run continued at Hollywoodbets Greyville on Saturday.
Querari’s exciting two-year-old son Vibe Check made it three wins in a row when he won Saturday’s G2 Omoda Golden Horseshoe (1400m).

In the process, the colt became Querari’s second Golden Horseshoe winner with Cosmic Speed having preceded Vibe Check by scoring in 2024.

Trained by Vaughan Marshall (who also conditions Querari’s G1 winning son Questioning), Vibe Check was sent off a 2-1 shot for Saturday’s R750 000 contest.

He duly obliged despite racing green and failing to corner properly. Sean Veale kept Vibe Check going strongly in the closing stages and the pair stayed on to win the Golden Horseshoe by nearly half a length.

Bred by Maine Chance Farms, Vibe Check has won three of six starts for his owner Seamus Burns.

The colt was a R650 000 buy from the 2025 Summer Sale.
Out of the Captain Al mare Victoria Lavelle, Vibe Check is bred on the same Querari/Captain Al cross as this season’s G1 Hollywoodbets Gold Challenge winner Questioning, the hugely exciting Turn It Up and graded stakes winners Head Honcho and Kampala Campari.

Querari has some cracking two-year-olds this season, with Vibe Check and Turn It Up joined by the graded stakes winners Time Is Precious and Querari Dancer.
