Ridgemont’s Triple Crown winning sire Malmoos is set to be crowned South Africa’s Leading First Season Sire of 2025-2026, and the son of Captain Al struck again on Wednesday.
His two-year-old son Scots Wae Hae became Malmoos’ ninth winner when he won the first race at Hollywoodbets Scottsville.

Trained by Mike and Mathew De Kock, Scots Wae Hae was always prominent in the running of the Hollywoodbets Scottsville Welcomes You Maiden Juvenile Plate (1000m).
Making just his second start, the Gavin Lerena ridden colt kept finding in the closing stages to win by just over a length and a quarter.

Bred by Ridgemont Highlands, and owned by Hollywood Racing, Scots Wae Hae had finished a good third on debut.

His sire’s ninth winner, Scots Wae Hae is out of the Var mare Saltire.

The blue blooded Malmoos came up with his first graded stakes winner recently when his unbeaten daughter Marchland won the G2 Douglas Whyte Thekwini Stakes.
The close relative of prominent sire Master Of My Fate, and 2026 G1 Hollywoodbets Durban July winner Note To Self,  is tenth on South Africa’s Leading Sires of 2Yos premiership for 2025-2026.
