Lammerskraal Stud

Lammerskraal Stud has been under new ownership Since December 2014. Pieter Graaff, has long been associated with the valley of Ceres and surrounding areas, being a large fruit producer.

During the last three years, Pieter has endeavoured to purchase a number of very well performed broodmares to add to an already very impressive band of 60 mares. A few very well bred fillies have been purchased at the leading yearling sales in South Africa, as well a stakes winning daughter of Silvan and half-sister to sire JAY-PEG.

Foal numbers at Lammerskraal have been gradually increased annually. From only producing 25 to 28 foals per annum, to expecting 52 foals in 2018. This will allow an already very successful stud, to become far more competitive in the future. As our horses are grazed on very nutritious mixed pastures, we have added another 18 ha during the last 2 years.

Lammerskraal will continue to retain 5 or 6 fillies annually to race, having enjoyed good success over the years with homebred fillies, which return to stud for breeding.

The winner of the prestigious Grade 1 King’s Bishop Stakes and a proven sire of merit, VISIONAIRE was acquired with the help of International owner Barry Irwin to stand at Lammerskraal Stud. VISIONAIRE stands along side the successful sire GO DEPUTY, a successful sire of stakes winners, including the 2016 TRIPLE CROWN WINNER, Abashiri.

Stud Highlights:

In 2015, shares in the very promising sires MASTER OF MY FATE, QUERARI and GIMMETHEGREENLIGHT were purchased , and recently in William Longsword.
