Maine Chance Farms’ inform stallion Querari had a smart looking trio of winners on Saturday.
Querari came up with two impressive two-year-old winners at Turffontein on Saturday, and the same day his classy son King’s Quest won at Hollywoodbets Durbanville.

Sean Tarry sent out Querari two-year-olds Ocean Mistress and Turn It Up to win impressively on Saturday. Both juveniles were ridden to victory by Keagan De Melo.
Ocean Mistress, who had finished second on her only previous start, caught the eye when winning the 4Racing Welcomes You Juvenile Plate.

The filly pulled clear in the closing stages of Saturday’s 1160m contest and drew off to win by a length and three quarters.

Bred by Lammerskraal Stud, Ocean Mistress races for the Wernars Family and Harry Willson.

Out of the Var mare Varsity Lover (and bred on the same cross as high-class sprinter I Am Giant), Ocean Mistress was a R2 000 000 buy from the 2025 Premier Yearling Sale.

Querari also looks to have  a very smart two-year-old colt to his name this season in the form of Turn It Up.
The latter made it two wins from three starts when he romped home to claim Saturday’s #Youcanbetonus! Juvenile Plate (1160m) by over two and a half lengths.
Bred by Laurence Wernars (Turn It Up races for the Wernars Family, Mukund Gujadhur and Rikesh Sewgoolam), Turn It Up, a half-brother to champion Proceed, is out of the Captain Al mare Xplosive Kiss.

South Africa’s Leading Sire of 2YOs in 2018-2019, Querari has been responsible for eight two-year-old winners this season thus far.
The son of Oasis Dream also enjoyed success at Hollywoodbets Durbanville on Saturday, where Querari gelding King’s Quest won the fifth race on the card.

Under Aldo Domeyer, the Candice Bass trained four-year-old made it back to back wins when he stormed home to land the Bet With Tote www.tote.co.za Class 4 (1400m) by a length and a half.

Wilgerbosdrift’s inform stallion Hawwaam enjoyed a fine spell of success on Friday and Saturday.
Hawwaam was responsible for five winners over those two days, with the highlight being Hawwaam filly Perfect Miracle’s success in the G3 World Sports Betting Sycamore Sprint (1160m).

Trained by Tony Peter, Perfect Miracle was given a fine ride by Marco Van Rensburg.
Always up with the pace in Saturday’s R225 000 contest, Perfect Miracle kept finding in the closing stages to land her biggest win to date by half a length.

It was a second week in a row that Hawwaam had been responsible for a feature race winner at Turffontein, with Hawwaam gelding Diogenes having won the recent Listed WSB Hawwaam Stakes.

Bred by Klawervlei Stud, the Suzette Viljoen owned Perfect Miracle has won three of eight starts.

The filly, who is out of the Tiger Ridge mare Freddy’s Sister, was a R425 000 buy from the 2024 National Yearling Sale.

Her five time G1 winning sire Hawwaam had also enjoyed a double at Hollywoodbets Durbanville on Saturday as well as at Fairview on Friday.

On Friday, Hawwaam daughters Obsidian Star and Homing Pigeon won races two and three respectively, while the following day saw Hawwaam fillies Lady Orbit and Miss Attitude victorious in races four and eight respectively.

Promising two-year-old Obsidian Star made a particuarly pleasing impression when she won the Narrow Creek/New Turf Carriers Maiden Juvenile Plate (1200m). The Sharon Kotzen trained filly showed plenty of courage when fighting back, under Luyolo Mxothwa, to break her maiden by half a length.
Bred by Volmoed Stud, the filly was making just her second start, with Obsidian Star having finished second, to the unbeaten Marchland, on debut.

Just days after his son Okavango won the Listed Kings Cup, Varsfontein Stud’s top-class sire Master Of My Fate enjoyed more feature race success.
On Friday, the Master Of My Fate sired Anotherdanceforme made it eight wins from nine starts when she romped home to land the Listed Bryanston Auctioneers East Cape Guineas (1600m) at Fairview.

The Alan Greeff trained three-year-old turned Friday’s Listed feature into a one-horse race.
Under Richard Fourie, Anotherdanceforme raced towards the back of the field early on.

Fourie set his filly loose with 300m left to run, and Anotherdanceforme stormed home to win as she liked by five and a quarter lengths.
Bred by Varsfontein Stud, Friday’s winner is owned by Peter Moon.

Anotherdanceforme, who is out of the What A Winter mare Destiny Dancer, was a R650 000 buy from the 2024 National Yearling Sale.

A full-sister to Listed Sweet Chestnut Stakes winner Princess Izzy, Anotherdanceforme, who is unbeaten in the Eastern Cape, has now won five black type races including last season’s G2 SplashOut Golden Slipper.

Her sire Master Of My Fate is enjoying another fine season, with the son of Jet Master also responsible for the likes of Atticus Finch (G2 Allied Steelrode -Onamission Charity Mile), the likes of Okavango and Anotherdanceforme, Listed Play ‘N Go Jet Master Stakes winner Jet Force and G1 Wilgerbosdrift SA Fillies Classic runner up Golden Palm.

Drakenstein Stud’s red hot sire One World came up with another stakes winner when his son Anuschka’s World won the Listed Hollywoodbets Supports ECHUCU East Cape Sprint Cup (1200m).
Under Muzi Yeni, the gelded four-year-old raced just off the pace early on.

Anuschka’s World ran on strongly between runners to beat runner up Roman Agent by a neck.

Trained by Kelly Mitchley, Anuschka’s World, who had finished third in the same race in 2025, has won five of 28 starts.

The son of Captain Al came up with another impressive two-year-old winner when his son Into Red Space made a winning debut at Fairview on Friday.

Trained by Kelly Mitchley, Into Red Space proved far too strong for his rivals in Friday’s World Sports Betting Maiden Juvenile Plate (1100m).
Under Muzi Yeni, the Erik The Red colt was always up with the pace and he pulled clear in the closing stages to win, going away, by two and a quarter lengths.

It was a 1-2 for Erik The Red, with Into Red Space vanquishing his paternal half-brother Olaf The Stout into second spot.

Bred by Oldlands Stud, Into Red Space races for Mr Holmes.

Into Red Space, who is out of the Alado mare Space Girl, was a R120 000 buy from the 2025 Cape Yearling Sale.

Varsfontein Stud’s top-class homebred stallion Master Of My Fate enjoyed more feature race success this weekend.
His Justin Snaith trained son Okavango showed his well being when he won the Listed Kings Cup at Hollywoodbets Scottsville on Sunday.

Under Tristan Godden, the four-year-old went out to make the running in Sunday’s R165 000 contest.
Okavango fought out a stirring duel with champion King Pelles in the closing stages of the Kings Cup, with Okavango staying on gamely to win by just over half a length.
It was a smart performance from the Michael De Broglio bred gelding, with Okavango having to lug 63kgs on his back in the Kings Cup.

Owned by Nick Jonsson, Okavango, who is out of the Sportsworld mare Sabina Park, was a R420 000 buy from the 2023 November Two Year Old Sale.

The three-parts brother to dual G1 Summer Cup winner Master Sabina has won four of 14 outings, with Okavango’s past efforts including a third in the 2025 G1 Daily News 2000.

His sire Master Of My Fate enjoyed some fine results at the Premier Yearling Sale this weekend.
Master Of My Fate had six yearlings sell at the Premier Sale, with his yearlings grossing R6.125 million and averaging R1 020 833.

Master Of My Fate had a pair of colts fetch R2 200 000 apiece at the 2026 Premier Sale, with Form Bloodstock purchasing Western Master (Lot 167) for that amount, and Jonathan Snaith signing for Masai Mara (Lot29) at R2.2 million.

Drakenstein Stud’s four time G1 winning sire Futura enjoyed a notable day on Saturday.
Not only did Futura’s daughter Curious Girl run out a hugely impressive winner of the Ormond Ferraris Oaks Trial, but Futura had a colt make R1 000 000 at Saturday’s session of the Premier Yearling Sale.

Trained by Mike and Mathew De Kock, progressive three-year-old Curious Girl made it three wins in a row with her victory on Saturday.
Under Gavin Lerena, Curious Girl was always up with the pace and she pulled away in the straight to win as she liked by five and three quarter lengths.

Bred by Riyo Stud, Saturday’s winner races for Hollywood Racing.

Curious Girl, who is out of the Ideal World mare Idaho, has won four of six starts and she looks a lively contender for the G2 Wilgerbosdrift SA Oaks next month.

The filly was a R160 000 buy from 2024 National Yearling Sale.

Her four time G1 winning sire Futura, whose flagbearers this season include promising G1 Lucky Fish Cape Derby runner up Note To Self and G3 New Turf Carriers Western Cape Stayers hero Ahead Of The Facts, also enjoyed success at Turffontein on Thursday and Hollywoodbets Scottsville one day earlier.
His daughters Falconfly and Stampede Ahead both won their respective races impressively, with Falconfly capturing Thursday’s For Hospitality Bookings Call 011 681 1796 FM 76 Handicap by four lengths and Stampede Ahead breaking her maiden by nearly five and three quarter lengths.

Futura also enjoyed sales ring success on Saturday when Drakenstein Stud consigned Farinthedistance (Lot 238) was knocked down to Hollywoodbets for R1 000 000. The colt is out of the G3 winning Trippi mare Fromafar and is bred on the same potent Futura/Trippi cross as the likes of Future Swing, Pink Tourmaline and Sweet Future.

The champion has four lots on offer at the National Yearling Sale, including a half-brother (Lot 52) to HSH Princess Charlene Big Cap winner All Out For Six, and a half-sister (Lot 350) to G1 Champions Challenge winner Coral Fever.

Wilgerbosdrift’s homebred champion Hawwaam came up with his first stakes winner on Saturday.
His three-year-old son Diogenes was a fitting winner of Saturday’s Listed WSB Hawwaam Stakes (2000m) at Turffontein.

Trained by Weichong Marwing, three-year-old Diogenes was backed down from 10-1 to 8-1 for Saturday’s Listed feature and he duly lived up to expectations.
Under a fine ride from Muzi Yeni, Diogenes tracked the front running Texas Missile for much of the running, before the son of Hawwaam hit the front with 200m left to run.
From there, Diogenes drew off to win convincingly by a length and a half.

Bred by Riethuiskraal Stud, the gelded son of Hawwaam has won three of nine starts and is on track to contest the G2 TAB SA Derby.

Owned by Mr Havenga, Diogenes is out of the Captain Al mare Captainofmysoul.
The 2026 Hawwaam Stakes winner was a R300 000 buy from the 2024 National Yearling Sale, before he was resold for R281 000 at the 2025 December Online Sale.

Diogenes’ five time G1 winning sire Hawwaam enjoyed a good double at the Vaal recently, where his promising daughter Grande Hawaii won the first race and his smart son Pivotal Role landed race nine.
The half-brother to Horse Of The Year Rainbow Bridge and dual G1 winner Golden Ducat has 16 lots on offer at the National Yearling Sale.

South Africa’s reigning champion sire Vercingetorix enjoyed another big day on Saturday.
Not only is Vercingetorix the sire of Saturday’s Listed WSB Aquanaut Handicap winner Daimyo as well as impressive debut winner Good Day Sunshine, but the son of Silvano also ended the day as the  Leading Sire at the 2026 Premier Yearling Sale.

The Alec Laird trained Daimyo claimed the third black type win of his career when he made all to win the Aquanaut Handicap (2500m) on Saturday.
Also victorious in the 2024 Listed Woolavington Stakes and 2025 Listed Allied Steelrode Java Stakes, the five-year-old was given a fine, front-running ride by Calvin Habib in Saturday’s R225 000 contest.

Daimyo kicked clear a long way from home, and he kept galloping strongly to win the 2500m feature convincingly by just over two and a quarter lengths.
In the process, the Vercingetorix gelding recorded his fifth win from 19 outings, with Daimyo having earned more than R660 000 in stakes.

Out of G1 SA Fillies Classic/G2 SA Oaks winner Juxtapose, Saturday’s winner was a R600 000 buy from the 2022 November Two Year Old Sale.
Daimyo was one of three winners for Vercingetorix at Turffontein on Saturday, with the Maine Chance resident also the sire of eye catching debut winner Good Day Sunshine as well as Slender Silhouette. The latter justified favouritism when she won Saturday’s SA Derby 4 April Maiden Plate over 1000m (vanquishing her paternal half-brother Sosoru into second place).

Vercingetorix was also both the Leading Sire, by Aggregate, and the sire of the top priced yearling sold at this year’s Premier Yearling Sale, which concluded on Saturday.
The Equus Champion was responsible for Caesar’svastghost (Lot 197), who was knocked down to Adam Marcus Racing for R4 500 000 to top the Premier Sale.

Consigned by Winterbach Stud (As Agent), the sales topper is a half-brother to four winners notably G1 World Sports Betting Cape Town Met/G1 Cape Guineas winning sire Double Superlative.
Caesar’svastghost was one of 15 Vercingetorix yearlings to make R1 000 000 or more at the Premier Yearling Sale in 2026.

Vercingetorix, whose son Wreath Of Snow was knocked down for R9 000 000 at the 2025 Premier Sale, ended Saturday’s auction having been responsible for 22 yearlings fetching a gross total of R32.975 million.
The son of Silvano’s yearlings averaged an impressive R1 498 864 at this year’s Premier Yearling Sale.

Blue blooded young stallion Real Gone Kid looks to have come up with a smart, first-crop performer in the form of Master Mtoto.
The latter made it two wins from two starts when he won at Fairview on Friday.

Trained by Dean Smith, two-year-old Master Mtoto had made the perfect start to his career when he won on debut at Fairview and he duly followed up on Friday.
Under Craig Zackey, Master Mtoto jumped out quickly in Friday’s Welcome To Nelson Mandela Bay Juvenile Plate (1200m) and went out to make the running.

The two-year-old kept finding in the closing stages to post his second win in two starts by a length.
Bred by Ndoro Stud, Master Mtoto is out of the Flower Alley mare Castello Campanula.

Owned by Messrs D D B Band, Sivan Ramsamy, C S Shapiro, D C Stonebridge, J R M Tostee & F Toweel & Mr & Mrs C R Stonebridge, Master Mtoto was a R200 000 buy from the 2025 KZN Yearling Sale.

His sire Real Gone Kid has now had six members of his first crop either win or finish in the money.

 

 

The blue blooded Real Gone Kid is a son of four times Australian champion sire Snitzel. The son of Redoute’s Choice made headlines once again on Saturday when his daughter Lazzura won the G1 ATC Coolmore Classic at Rosehill. A stakes winner at 2 and 3, it’s as a 4yo that the Arrowfield Group and Jungle Pocket Pty Ltd bred mare has really come into her own, winning three stakes races and never finishing further back than fifth.

Lazzura is the 26th G1 winner for the late Snitzel, with the former champion sire having sired more than 160 stakes winners in total.
