The Drakenstein Stud based champion One World looks to have come up with a potentially top-class two-year-old in the form of World Attraction.
The latter maintained his unbeaten record when he ran out a convincing winner of the Listed TAB Storm Bird Stakes (1000m) run at Turffontein on Saturday.

World Attraction, who had won his only previous start by over seven and a quarter lengths, duly made it two out of two with a smooth performance in Sunday’s contest.
Under Callan Murray, the Mike and Mathew De Kock trained colt raced keen early before hitting the front close home.

From there, World Attraction kept galloping strongly to claim the 2026 Storm Bird Stakes by nearly a length and three-quarters.

World Attraction, who is out of the Vercingetorix mare Major Attraction, was a R1 500 000 buy from the 2025 Summer Sale.

His sire One World, South Africa’s Leading First Season Sire of 2023-2024 and Leading Second Season Sire of 2024-2025, has been responsible for at least one stakes winner in each of his first three crops.

The champion son of Captain Al has 12 lots on offer at the Premier Yearling Sale, and a further ten lots on sale at the National Yearling Sale.

Wilgerbosdrift’s promising young stallion Hawwaam had a good day at the Vaal on Thursday.
His promising two-year-old daughter Grande Hawaii won the first race on Thursday with Hawwaam gelding Pivotal Role victorious in the ninth race at the Vaal.

Hawwaam had just three runners on the day, with his daughter Drachenfutter finishing fourth in the first race.

Trained by Sean Tarry, Grande Hawaii built on a good debut effort when she won Thursday’s 4Racing Welcomes You Maiden Juvenile Plate (Fillies) (1200m).
Under Keagan De Melo, the Hawwaam filly was always travelling well, and Grande Hawaii simply sauntered away from her rivals to win as she liked by three lengths.

Bred by Lammerskraal Stud, Grande Hawaii, third on her only previous start, is owned by the Wernars Family and Harry Willson.
The filly, who is out of the High Chaparral mare Grande Roche, was an R850 000 purchase from the 2025 National Yearling Sale.

Hawwaam’s well bred son Pivotal Role was another to catch the eye on Thursday. The Johan Janse Van Vuuren trained gelding was always up with the pace in the TAB 4Racing APP MR 74 Handicap (1000m).
Under Keagan De Melo, Pivotal Role kept finding more in the closing stages and he stayed on to win by nearly a length. It was a smart performance by the gelding, who was conceding 5.5 kgs to the runner up.
Bred by Maine Chance Farms, Pivotal Role has won two of just four starts and he looks to have plenty of scope about him.

Owned by Mukund Gujadhur, Rikesh Sewgoolam and the Wernars Famil, Pivotal Role was a R2 000 000 buy from the 2024 Cape Premier Yearling Sale.

Bred on very similar lines to this season’s top-class filly Princess Of Gaul, Hawwaam has seven lots on offer at the Premier Yearling Sale including a half-brother (Lot 10) to G1 Computaform Sprint winning sire Master Archie.
Hawwaam also has some exceptionally well related yearlings on offer at the National Yearling Sale, including a half-brother (Lot 55) to graded stakes winners Big Burn and Catch Twentytwo, and a colt (Lot 304) out of G3 Lebelo Sprint winner Anna Capri.

Drakenstein Stud’s prominent stallion One World enjoyed a midweek double at Hollywoodbets Durbanville on Wednesday.
Not only did One World’s daughter Miss World win the fourth race on Wednesday but another daughter, Star World, won the fifth race on the card.

One World went close to having a treble on Wednesday with his daughters Pentolina, My Only Weakness and Her World finishing second, third and fourth respectively in the sixth race at Hollywoodbets Durbanville.

The Greg Ennion trained Miss World made the most of a light weight when she romped home to an emphatic win in Wednesday’s Woodruff Racing Syndicate Progress Plate (F and M) (1250m).
Under Sifisokuhle Bungane, the four-year-old stormed home to win as she liked by three lengths.
Bred by Rikesh Sewgoolam, Miss World had shown smart form at two, where her efforts included a runner up effort in the Listed Somerset 1200.

Miss World, who races for Etienne Braun and Matt Williams, is out of the Dynasty mare Blakes Mistress.

One World’s second success on Wednesday came when his daughter Star World claimed the Bet With Tote www.tote.co.za Class 5 (F and M) (1250m).
One of three winners on the day for Richard Fourie, the Vaughan Marshall trained three-year-old kept finding in the closing stages to pick up the second win of her career.

Bred by her part-owner Ken Truter, Star World is out of the Kahal mare Open Your Eyes.

Her G1 Sun Met winning sire One World has 12 lots on offer at the Premier Yearling Sale, including a colt (Lot 212) out of G3 Prix du Cap winner Elusive Heart and a filly (Lot 266) bred on the same cross as One World’s champion son One Stripe.

Maine Chance Farms’ champion sire Vercingetorix enjoyed another big weekend last week.
Not only did South Africa’s reigning champion sire enjoy a feature race double at Hollywoodbets Kenilworth on Saturday (another son of Vercingetorix, I’m A Fireball, won the March Stakes on Sunday), but Vercingetorix also supplied the sales topping colt at Sunday’s Cape Yearling Sale.

His Hemel ‘N Aarde Stud consigned son Luca’s Limelight (Lot 22) was knocked down to James Crawford for R900 000 to top Sunday’s auction.

The only yearling by his sire on the Cape Sale, Luca’s Limelight is a half-brother to two winners led by five time scorer Soho Star.
The sales topper is out of the three time winning Your Song mare Intothelimelight, whose dam Fun Flight is an Anabaa half-sister to two Australian group winners.

Vercingetorix also made headlines at Hollywoodbets Scottsville on Sunday when his classy son I’m A Fireball won the day’s feature race, the March Stakes (Non-Black Type).
Under Callan Murray, the Mike and Mathew De Kock trained gelding jumped out well and went on to make the running.

Under a strong ride, I’m A Fireball kept going gamely to win by nearly half a length.
Bred, like his sire, by Klawervlei Stud, the Hollywood Racing owned I’m A Fireball has won three of nine starts and two of his last three starts.
The blue blooded three-year-old is out of Gibraltar Blue, who has a Vercingetorix full-sister to I’m A Fireball on offer at the Premier Yearling Sale.

Cheveley Stud’s homebred champion Legislate has enjoyed an excellent season in 2025-2026, and the son of Dynasty’s great run continued at Hollywoodbets Kenilworth on Saturday.
Not only did Legislate filly Wish List win Saturday’s G1 Lucky Fish Cape Derby (2000m), but another Legislate filly Lady Nancy ran third in the same day’s G3 Ridgemont Cape Of Good Hope Nursery.

In winning the Cape Derby, Wish List not only emulated her Derby winning sire Legislate but also her paternal Derby winning grandsire Dynasty.

Trained by Justin Snaith (who also trained Legislate), Wish List was given a fine ride by Richard Fourie in Saturday’s R1 500 000 classic.

Fourie bought his mount with a well timed challenge, and kept Wish List going to hold off stablemate Note To Self and win the 2026 Cape Derby by three-parts of a length.

Bred by Maine Chance Farms, Wish List has won three of eight starts, with the filly also victorious in this season’s G1 Cartier Paddock Stakes.

Owned by Jonathan Bloch and Nancy Hossack, Wish List is out of the Silvano mare Wind Chill.
Saturday’s Derby winner, bred on the same Legislate/Silvano cross as this season’s G1 World Sports Betting Cape Town Met runner up Legal Counsel, was a R700 000 buy from the 2024 National Yearling Sale.

Her four time G1 winning sire Legislate is having a wonderful season, with his flagbearers including not only Wish List and Legal Counsel but also fellow graded stakes winners Good For You and Regulation.

Maine Chance Farms’ inform stallion Querari enjoyed more feature race success on Saturday when his top-class son Questioning won the G2 Khaya Stables Diadem Stakes (1200m) at Hollywoodbets Kenilworth.
It was a fourth graded victory for Questioning, with the five-year-old having also triumphed in the G3 Cape Classic as well as two runnings of the G3 Matchem Stakes.

Runner up in the G1 L’Ormarins King’s Plate last time out, the Vaughan Marshall trained Questioning turned Saturday’s Diadem Stakes into a one-horse race.
Under Richard Fourie, the Querari gelding burst clear of his rivals 200m from home and stormed away to win as he liked by two and a half lengths.

Another son of Querari, I Am Giant, ran fourth in the Diadem Stakes.

Bred by Alec Foster, Questioning is owned by Greg and Gina Bortz, Mukund Gujadhur and the Wernars Family.

The gelding, who has won eight of 23 starts, is out of the Captain Al mare Wheredowego and is bred on the same Querari/Captain Al cross as fellow graded stakes winners Head Honcho and Kampala Campari.

Currently South Africa’s Leading Sire of 2YOs for 2025-2026, Querari went close to having a feature race double on Saturday with his daughter Queen Regent finishing second in the Listed OTT Cape Fillies Classic.

South Africa’s reigning champion sire Vercingetorix’s great run of success continued at Hollywoodbets Kenilworth on Saturday.
Not only did the Vercingetorix fillies Beach Verse and Princess Of Gaul win Saturday’s Listed OTT Cape Fillies Classic and G3 SplashOut Prix Du Cap respectively, but his son Viva’s Liberte ran a cracking third in the same day’s G1 Lucky Fish Cape Derby. Another son of the mighty sire, O’Tenikwa, ran third in Saturday’s G2 Khaya Stables Diadem Stakes, while Vercingetorix filly Stormwatch ran second in the SplashOut Prix Du Cap.

Regally bred three-year-old Beach Verse picked up her biggest win to date when she ran out a convincing winner of Saturday’s OTT Cape Fillies Classic (1800m).
Under Aldo Domeyer, the Candice Bass trained filly hit the front at the top of the straight and from there kept galloping strongly to record a convincing one and a quarter length win.

Now a three time winner from nine starts, Beach Verse races for her breeders Drakenstein Stud.
Beach Verse, who is out of the Dynasty mare Beach Beauty, is bred on the same Vercingetorix/Dynasty cross as the G1 winning champion Gladatorian.

Another three-year-old daughter of Vercingetorix, Princess Of Gaul, picked up the third graded win of her career when she won Saturday’s SplashOut Prix Du Cap.
Under a well timed ride from Craig Zackey, the Dean Kannemeyer trained filly stormed home, from off the pace, to get up close home and beat paternal half-sister Stormwatch by a head.

Bred by Clive Murphy, Princess Of Gaul has won four of eight starts, with her wins including the 2025 G2 World Pool With Race Coast Debutante and 2025 G2 Western Cape Fillies Championship.
The filly, who is owned by Alac (Pty) Ltd, is out of the Duke Of Marmalade mare Miss Marmalade.

Princess Of Gaul is one of six stakes winners to have emerged from Vercingetorix’s current crop of three-year-olds.

South Africa’s Champion Sire of 2024-2025, Vercingetorix is once again heading the General Sires premiership this season.

Varsfontein Stud’s homebred stallion Erik The Red enjoyed a big payday at Hollywoodbets Kenilworth on Saturday.
The 2020 G3 Kepu Cape Of Good Hope Nursery winner was responsible for the first two home in the G3 Ridgemont Cape Of Good Hope Nursery (1200m).

Not only did Erik The Red sire Nursery winner Red Spice but he is also the sire of runner up Roskilde.

In landing Saturday’s G3 contest, the Piet/Elbert Steyn trained colt made it a feature race double with Red Spice having won the Listed JC Le Roux Summer Juvenile Stakes prior to his Nursery triumph.

Under a great ride from Keagan De Melo,  Red Spice dug down deep to best his paternal half-brother Roskilde by
Bred by Terry Andrews, the progressive Red Spice has won two of five starts.

The colt, who is out of the Right Approach mare Ikebana, races for Mukund Gujadhur, J M Lim Fat, Rikesh Sewgoolam and the Wernars Family.

The multiple graded stakes winning Erik The Red is also the sire of the smart performer King Harald, who won at Turffontein on Thursday.

Drakenstein Stud’s top-class sire What A Winter came up with his 31^st stakes winner when his son Tenpenny won the Listed Masks Of Fire Kenilworth Cup (2500m) at Hollywoodbets Kenilworth on Saturday.
Trained by Patrick Kruyer, the progressive four-year-old was given a fine ride by JP Van Der Merwe on Saturday.

Van Der Merwe sent Tenpenny to the front, before letting his mount settle into second as Landoftherisingsun went on to make the running.

Close to home, Tenpenny launched his challenge and he settled down to fight out the finish with Landoftherisingsun.
The son of What A Winter dug down deep to claim his biggest win to date by a length.
It was a fine performance by Tenpenny, with the latter having to concede weight to all his rivals.

Bred by Camargue Stud, Tenpenny, who has won six of 14 starts including his last three in a row, races for Greg and Gina Bortz.

Tenpenny, who is out of the Silvano mare Magic Penny, was a R600 000 buy from the 2023 National Yearling Sale.

His four time G1 winning sire What A Winter had also enjoyed feature race success recently when his daughter Symphony In White won the Listed Lady’s Pendant. What A Winter is also the broodmare sire of Friday’s Listed Breeders Guineas winner Anotherdanceforme.

Drakenstein Stud’s exciting young stallion Charles Dickens gained a handsome boost to his pedigree when his half-sister Grapes Of Wrath made a winning debut at Hollywoodbets Kenilworth on Saturday.

A two-year-old daughter of Gimmethegreenlight, Grapes Of Wrath made a big impression when she won Saturday’s Lucky Fish Maiden Juvenile Plate (Fillies).
Under Aldo Domeyer, the Candice Bass trained filly quickened up smartly to draw off and win on debut by two and a quarter lengths.

Bred and owned by Drakenstein Stud, Grapes Of Wrath is held in high regard by her connections and she looks to have a bright future ahead of her.
Grapes Of Wrath is the sixth winner produced by her dam Demanding Lady.

A daughter of Dynasty, Demanding Lady, herself winner of five races including the G2 Ipi Tombe Challenge, was South Africa’s Equus Champion Broodmare of 2022-2023.

Demanding Lady is best known as the dam of multiple Equus Champion Charles Dickens, G1Gbets Cape Derby runner up Charles and Listed Settlers Trophy winner Somerset Maugham.  Demanding Lady’s half-sister Aunty Carol made headlines at Sunday’s Cape Yearling Sale where her Digital Age filly (Lot 105) was knocked down to Herman Brown for R550 000.

The brilliant Charles Dickens, a son of champion sire Trippi, won 10 of 13 starts including the 2022 G1 Hollywoodbets Cape Guineas and 2024 G1 L’Ormarins King’s Plate.
