Drakenstein Stud’s promising young Dynasty horse Futura came up with his fourth first crop stakes winner when his son Diesel And Dust captured the G3 Zimbabwe 2000 (2000m) at Borrowdale Park on Sunday afternoon.

The Zimbabwe 2000 was a great result for Futura, with his son winning the race, and his multiple stakes winning daughter Dindingwe running third.

Both Diesel And Dust and Dindingwe are out of daughters of Jallad.

Trained by Kirk Swanson (who also conditions Dindingwe), the gelded Diesel And Dust powered home, under Kevin Derere to pick up his first black type race by a length and a half.

His paternal half-sister Dindingwe, who came into Sunday’s race, off a 16 length score in the Listed Silver Slipper Stakes finished a short head behind runner up Mazikeen.

Bred by Mr Reid, Diesel And Dust is now unbeaten in two starts, with the Futura gelding having won his only previous start by four lengths.

His four time G1 winning sire Futura, South Africa’s Horse Of The Year in 2014-2015, has made a flying start to his stud career with his other first crop flagbearers headed by G2 Durban Golden Horseshoe winner Nourbese, speedy Bauhinia Handicap heroine Sweet Future and the likes of Jasmine, Pink Tourmaline and Warrior.
