Former Equus Champion, and red hot sire, Vercingetorix has been in great form this season, and the former G1 Jebel Hatta winner was responsible for two more winners, from as many runners, at the Vaal on Tuesday.

Vercingetorix’s gelded son Soul Connection provided workrider Kelly Fisher with a first success, when Soul Connection won Tuesday’s first race. In romping to a two length win in the 1200m race, the Ashley Fortune trained gelding picked up his first career win. Bred by Klawervlei Stud (who also bred Vercingetorix), three-year-old Soul Connection has now won or placed in eight of his ten starts.

Vercingetorix, who shares his multiple champion sire Silvano with this season’s unbeaten Triple Tiara winner Summer Pudding among many others, picked up his second win on Tuesday when his Candice Dawson trained daughter Gallica Princess ran out an easy winner of the Vaal’s seventh race.
Gallica Princess, who was bred by The Alchemy, made it win number four when powering home, under jockey Gavin Lerena, to a four and three-quarter length win over 1200m.

The Maine Chance Farms based Vercingetorix has made an excellent start to his stud career, with his smashing first crop including millionaire African Warrior, G2Gauteng Guineas victor Ikigai and G1 Daily News 2000/G2 WSB Guineas runner up Padre Pio.

His second crop also looks highly promising, with Vercingetorix’s two-year-olds headed by G3 Strelitzia Stakes winner Vernichey and the very exciting Rascallion among others.
