61st stakes winner for Oratorio

6th March 2022

Avontuur Thoroughbred Farm’s veteran sire Oratorio came up with his 61st stakes winner when his daughter Pin Up romped home to a brilliant win in the G3 WSB Club Prive Acacia Stakes (1600m), run at Turffontein on Saturday.

One of three winners on the day for the Paul Peter/Warren Kennedy combination, Pin Up proved a class apart from her rivals in Saturday’s R200 000.

The result was settled a long way from home, with the five-year-old Pin Up pulling well clear to win by a decisive three lengths.
Bred by Eenfontein Stud, Pin Up has now won three of her last four starts, and has six wins in total to her name.

Pin Up, who is out of the Model Man mare Centrespread, was a R50 000 buy from the 2018 April Yearling Sale.

The mare is one of a long line of high-class daughters sired by Oratorio, with that son of Danehill also responsible for such G1 winning daughters as Banchee and Temida, dual Italian classic winner Cherry Collect and South African graded stakes winners Love Bomb, Orator’s Daughter and Snapscan.

To date, Oratorio’s progeny have earned in excess of $68 million, with the triple G1 winning son of Danehill also responsible for this season’s Listed Michael Roberts Handicap victor Gentleman’s Wager.
