Acacia Stakes 1-2 for Gimmethegreenlight

1st Mar 2025

South Africa’s reigning champion sire Gimmethegreenlight has had a wonderful run of success of late.
The son of More Than Ready struck again at Turffontein on Saturday, when Gimmethegreenlight fillies Gimmefabulous and Let’s Go Now ran first and second respectively in the Listed Wilgerbosdrift Acacia Stakes over 1600 metres.

Progressive three-year-old Gimmefabulous made it back to back feature race wins when she won Saturday’s R250 000 contest.

The Michael/Adam Azzie trained filly showed her class when storming home, under Kabelo Matsunyane, to hold off paternal half-sister Let’s Go Now and win a shade cosily by a length and three quarters.

(Gimmethegreenlight is also the broodmare sire of 2025 Wilgerbosdrift Acacia Stakes third place finisher Lady Fallon).

Bred by her part-owner Laurence Wernars, Gimmefabulous has won four of just eight starts, with the filly having won the G3 Betway Mother Russia Stakes (a race won by Let’s Go Now in 2024) on her penultimate start.

Gimmefabulous is out of the High Chaparral mare Being Fabulous.

Her multiple champion sire Gimmethegreenlight enjoyed a huge day at Hollywoodbets Kenilworth last week.
Not only did the Gimmethegreenlight sired full-brothers Gimme A Prince and The Real Prince win last Saturday’s G2 Khaya Stables Diadem Stakes and Listed City Of Cape Town Jet Master Stakes respectively, but Gimmethegreenlight fillies Give Me Everything, Kinda Wonderful and Goodnessgraciousme ran 1-2-3 in last weekend’s Listed Schweppes Cape Fillies Classic.
