Cheveley Stud’s homebred sire, and former Horse Of The Year, Legislate was responsible for his fourth graded stakes winner, from his small first crop, when his classy daughter So Flawless won the G3 Econorisk Final Fling Stakes (1800m) at Kenilworth on Saturday.
Bred by Sandown Stud, So Flawless had impressed last time out when running out a smart winner of the Listed WSB Sign Up Now Ladies Mile and duly made it back to back feature race wins with a top-class performance on Saturday.
Under Corne Orffer, the Andre Nel trained four-year-old pulled well clear in the closing stages of Saturday’s graded feature to win as she liked by three and a half lengths, thrashing her multiple stakes winning stable companion Young Love in the process.
Now a five time winner, So Flawless took her earnings to over R400 000 with her Final Fling Stakes win.
One of two runners in the 2022 Final Fling Stakes for her sire Legislate, So Flawless is out of the Judpot mare Natural Beauty.
Legislate’s late, great sire Dynasty also enjoyed success at Kenilworth on Saturday, with Dynasty’s Klawervlei Stud bred daughter Walk Of Fame victorious in Saturday’s G3 Western Province Nomads Champagne Stakes over 1200 metres.
South Africa’s Horse Of The Year in 2013-2014, four time G1 winner Legislate has had another fine season in 2021-2022. The champion’s flagbearers this season include graded stakes winners Airways Law, Hoedspruit and So Flawless, as well as Ladies Mile runner up Veronica Mars.
From the same female line as this season’s graded stakes winners Decorated and Silver Operator, Legislate currently sports a higher AEPR than such notable stallions as Trippi, Captain Al and Rafeef.
