Brilliant debut winner for Gimmethegreenlight

16th May 2024

South Africa’s reigning champion sire Gimmethegreenlight looks to have yet another exciting two-year-old to his name in the form of Gimme’s Countess.
The latter made a hugely impressive winning debut at Hollywoodbets Greyville on Wednesday, and Gimme’s Countess looks a very promising sort indeed.

Trained by Dean Kannemeyer, Gimme’s Countess was always going strongly, under Craig Zackey, in Wednesday’s Greyville Convention Centre Maiden Plate (F&M) (1200m).
When asked the question, the filly stormed into the lead with Gimme’s Countess powering away to win on debut by nearly four and a quarter lengths.
Bred and owned by Khaya Stables, the well-bred Gimme’s Countess is out of the Trippi mare Real Princess.
This makes Wednesday’s debut winner a full-sister to G1 Pongracz Cape Flying Championship/G1 Golden Horse Sprint winner Gimme A Prince and debut winner The Real Prince.
Gimme’s Countess was one of two winners for her champion sire on Wednesday, with Gimmethegreenlight filly Zinikele victorious in the seventh race at Hollywoodbets Greyville.
Gimmethegreenlight, whose outstanding daughter Gimme A Nother is set to continue her career in North America, has had another outstanding season in 2023-2024 and is once again South Africa’s Leading Sire by both stakes earned and individual stakes winners.
