21st Nov 2018

Cape based stallions Canford Cliffs, Count Dubois and Philanthropist will all be represented runners in various LONGINES sponsored Hong Kong international races, due to be run at Sha Tin on Sunday December 9th.

Singapore Sling

Philanthropist’s top class son Singapore Sling has accepted to run in the G1 LONGINES Hong Kong Mile, a race worth HK$25 000 000.
Trained by Tony Millard, former G2 Investec Dingaans winner Singapore Sling has won twice in Hong Kong thus far, with his victorious including the 2018 Hong Kong Classic Cup.
A son of Kris S, Philanthropist, who resides at Drakenstein Stud, has a single lot on offer at Friday’s CTS Ready To Run Sale.
Klawervlei Stud is home to former Equus Outstanding Stallion Count Dubois, whose son Northern Superstar (formerly known as Edict Of Nantes) is a runner in the same day’s G1 LONGINES Hong Kong Cup.

Northern Superstar, South Africa’s Equus Champion 3YO Colt of 2016-2017, is likely to make his Hong Kong debut this weekend when lining up in the Chevalier Cup, run over 1600m, at Sha Tin on Sunday.

His sire Count Dubois has been in great form of late, with his recent winners including Listed Laisserfaire Stakes winner Anime.

Top class runner Salouen, a close second in the G1 Investec Coronation Cup earlier this year, will represent his Ridgemont Highlands based sire Canford Cliffs when he takes part in the G1 LONGINES Hong Kong Vase, where his rivals will include the G1 winners Waldgeist, Capri, Latrobe and Pakistan Star.

Another runner in the Hong Kong Vase, Mirage Dancer, is very closely related to yet another Cape stallion –Ideal World.
A four-year-old son of Frankel and G1 winner Heat Haze (a half-sister to Ideal World’s champion dam Banks Hill), Mirage Dancer was second, at his most recent outing, in the G3 Dubai Duty Free Legacy Cup Stakes at Newbury, having previously won the G3 Bombay Sapphire Glorious Stakes at Goodwood.
