Castle Tankard joy for Global View

7th May 2023

Ascot Stud’s well bred resident sire Global View had a notable payday on Saturday when the stallion’s gelded son Ideal View captured the Castle Tankard at Borrowdale Park.
In claiming Zimbabwe’s premier horse-race, Ideal View accounted for former Zimbabwe champion Dindingwe by a neck.
The win saw Ideal View improve his record to six wins in 15 races with three placings and also sent punters smiling all the way to the bank after closing at 25/1.
Trainer Kirk Swanson said: , “Winning is awesome. All my five horses were special and deserving. I am so grateful to them, myself, and the team,” said Swanson.
Jockey Nathan Klink, who was on Ideal View, played a waiting game allowing Two To Tango, Buggati Blue and Down to Business to take turns to take the lead.
At the turn, Klink asked Ideal View to respond to the leaders’ threat and true to form, the four-year-old galloped his rivals off their hooves.

Bred by Riyo Stud, four-year-old Ideal View is out of the Ideal World mare Idaho.
His sire Global View, South Africa’s Leading First Season Sire of 2019-2020, is also the sire of this season’s high-class three-year-old Dave The King, who finished a creditable third in Saturday’s G2 World Sports Betting Guineas at Hollywoodbets Greyville.
The son of Galileo had also enjoyed success at Fairview on Friday, when his two-year-old daughter Global Rush broke her maiden at Fairview racecourse on Friday.
From the same family as breed shaping sire Storm Bird, Global View shares his outstanding sire Galileo with superstar Frankel -whose son Chaldean ran out an impressive winner of the G1 Qipco 2000 Guineas on Saturday.
