Mauritzfontein’s blue blooded stallion Danon Platina made headlines at Champ De Mars on Sunday.
His gelded son Rapidash showed his class when he won Sunday’s The Phoenix Maiden Cup (2400m).
Under Corne Orffer, the Ram Gujadhur trained six-year-old outclassed his rivals when storming home to claim Mauritius’ biggest races by five lengths. Corne Orffer hugged the rail the whole way and from the box seat his mount Rapidash powered to a five length win from last year’s winner Good Council.
Bred by Kilimanjaro Bloodstock, Rapidash had claimed the Listed The Fashion Heights 10th Anniversary Duchess Of York Cup in April.
Rapidash, who is out of the War Pass mare My Lovely, won three races, and more than R5.448 million, in South Africa headed by the 2024 Cape Racing Gold Rush.
His sire Danon Platina has made a bright start to the 2026-2027 season, with his other winners including the promising three-year-old Reign Man.
A champion son of legendary champion Deep Impact, Danon Platina has some very promising three-year-olds this season including G1 World Pool Moment Premiers Champion Stakes runner up Kazenoyoni.
