Varsfontein Stud’s champion sire Gimmethegreenlight came up with an eye-catching debut winner at Turffontein on Saturday. His regally bred three-year-old daughter Gimme A Nother made the perfect start to her racing career when storming home to land the Betway Insurebet Maiden Plate (1450m) on Saturday.
Trained by Mike de Kock (who also trained both her dam and granddam), Gimme A Nother took time to find her feet but quickened up nicely in the closing stages to outgun runner-up Alesia’s Love and score by just under a length and a half.
Gimme A Nother, who was ridden to victory by JP Van Der Merwe, was bred by Wilgerbosdrift & Mauritzfontein.
The filly is out of the Tiger Ridge mare Nother Russia, the Equus Champion Older Female of 2017/2018.
Gimme A Nother was one of two winners on Saturday for Gimmethegreenlight, whose classy son Youcanthurrylove stormed home to claim the ninth and final race run at Turffontein on Saturday.
South Africa’s reigning champion sire, Gimmethegreenlight also went close to having feature race success on Saturday with his sons Gimmeanotherchance and Gimme A Prince finishing second in Saturday’s Bloodstock SA Sales Cup (C and G) and G3 Hollywoodbets Matchem Stakes respectively and G2 winning daughter Cala Muretta finishing third in Saturday’s G3 Hollywoodbets Diana Stakes. Yet another son of the sire, Ready To Charge, ran third in the same day’s G2 Betway Joburg Spring Challenge at Turffontein.
The champion son of More Than Ready has five lots on offer at the Cape Racing Ready To Run And Unbroken Two Year Old Sale, and a further three lots on offer at the November Two Year Old Sale.
