Mauritzfontein’s successful resident stallion Ideal World made headlines recently when his son Rainbow Bridge was named South Africa’s Horse Of The Year for 2020-2021.

Ideal World was back in the news on Thursday, when his well bred son Tullamore Dew made a winning debut at the Vaal.

Trained by Paul Peter, three-year-old Tullamore Dew showed plenty of promise when he captured Thursday’s Betontab.co.za Maiden Plate (3-Year-Olds) (1400m).

Under Warren Kennedy, the Ideal World colt kept finding more in the closing stages to withstand a strong late challenge from runner up Flinders Range and win by a head.

Bred by Wilgerbosdrift & Mauritzfontein, Tullamore Dew (who has a half-brother, by The United States, on offer at the 2021 August Two Year Old Sale) is out of the Fastnet Rock mare Carraig Aonair.

He was a R200 000 buy from the 2020 National 2YO Sale.

His sire Ideal World is currently responsible for nearly 50 black type horses, headed by the champions Rainbow Bridge, Smart Call and Hermoso Mundo.
