Klawervlei Stud’s exciting young stallion Pomodoro was responsible for an impressive looking debut on Tuesday when his son Culture Trip scored first time out at Turffontein.
Making his first start on Turffontein’s inside track, the 3yo Culture Trip unleashed an impressive turn of foot to reel in his rivals and break his maiden over 1200m, by a length going away, for trainer Sean Tarry and jockey Muzi Yeni.
The Klawervlei Stud bred Culture Trip, who has a half-sister (Lot 58) on offer at Sunday’s Cape Yearling Sale, is the latest winner from Pomodoro’s first crop to make a big impression.
Pomodoro, whose 2yo son Immeasurable ran second in Saturday’s Klawervlei Farm Sale Stakes, has been enjoying a rich run of success this season, with his notable offspring including G1 Wilgerbosdrift SA Fillies Classic winner Return Flight, R4 000 000 plus earner Cirillo and recent hatrick scorer Royal Italian.
South Africa’s Leading First Crop Sire of 2017-2018 by stakes, Pomodoro has 13 yearlings on offer at Sunday’s Cape Yearling Sale, and a further seven yearlings on offer at the 2019 Emperors Palace National Yearling Sale.
