Debut winner for What A Winter

21st Oct 2022

Drakenstein Stud’s highly successful sire What A Winter continues to churn out eye catching winners and the multiple Equus Champion was at it again at the Vaal on Thursday when What A Winter filly Lil Miss Moneybags made a cracking winning debut.

Under a strong ride from Ryan Munger, three-year-old Lil Miss Moneybags showed tremendous courage to hold off a wall of challenges and land Thursday’s #ThisIsRacing Welcomes You Maiden Plate (F&M) over 1000m by a neck.
Trained by Ashley Fortune, Lil Miss Moneybags was bred by Willem Engelbrecht Jr.

Out of the West Man mare Miss Moneybags, Lil Miss Moneybags was a R150 000 buy from the 2021 National Yearling Sale.

Her four time G1 winning sire What A Winter, whose flagbearers last season included such notable graded stakes winners as Miss Cool and Winter Smoke, has made a cracking start to the 2022-2023 racing season with his notable representatives thus far headed by G2 Topbet Joburg Spring Challenge F&M winner Humdinger.

What A Winter has seven lots catalogued for the upcoming Cape Racing Ready To Run & 2YO Unbroken Sale and a further four lots on offer at the 2022 November Two Year Old Sale.
