Klipdrif’s in-form stallion Elusive Fort enjoyed another notable Saturday double over the weekend, with his pair of Kenilworth winners highlighted by an eye catching debut winner.
Elusive Fort’s 3yo daughter Secret Depths caused a 75-1 shock when flying up late to make a winning debut over 1200m for trainer Michael Robinson and rider Brandon May. The Peter de Beyer bred filly ran on strongly in the closing stages to get up close home and win first time out.
Secret Depths’ win, in Saturday’s second race, was quickly followed by her paternal half-brother Elusive Trader who made it back to back wins when running out a comfortable one and a half length winner of the fourth race –a MR 74 handicap over 1000m. Bred by Terry Andrews, the 3yo Elusive Trader, who is out of the Var mare Armatrading, has now won two of his five outings and looks progressive.
Triple G1 winner and Equus Champion, Elusive Fort, enjoyed a magnificent season in 2017-2018 when his representatives included G2 SA Oaks winner Secret Potion, G3 Prix du Cap heroine Elusive Heart and G3 Champagne Stakes vixen Freedom Charter.
Elusive Fort, whose own sister is the dam of millionaire and 2018 G1 Vodacom Durban July third Elusive Silva, has 13 lots on offer at this week’s National Two Year Old Sale.
